Kentucky Country Day's 'Believe and Decide' Slogan has propelled them all season long

The KCD football team is looking to stay undefeated this week against Crittenden Co. in the quarterfinals.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Country Day Head Coach Matt Jones knew his team had potential coming into this season.

"Sometimes when you feel like you have a talented team with returning starters, a lot of it is mental," he said.

This led Jones to start thinking about his team's slogan for this year. He wanted it to go beyond motivation; it had to empower his team.

He came up with the phrase: "Believe and Decide."

"They really have to commit to make it this far and to get to 12-0 and practice on Thanksgiving and make it to Kroger Field and these goals that we talk to them about," Jones said.

On Friday night, the Bearcats will host a quarterfinal match-up at home for just the third time in school history. For the first time this year, the team is facing a new opponent: Crittenden County. The Bearcats are not very familiar with this team, but they know they have to hold true to their motto if they want to make it to the semi-finals for the first time in program history.

"I think our players just have to decide that they are going to go out there and play for 48 minutes. We've never had an undefeated group before, and I think it takes a commitment from top to bottom to be undefeated," Jones said.

Crittenden County will face KCD at 7:30 p.m. at Kentucky Country Day.

"We just have to do what we do, what we've done the past 12 weeks: Believe in us, decide, and I think we'll come out on top."
