LMPD: Toddler dies in fatal accident on I-71

According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a large truck that rear-ended a passenger vehicle just before 3:30 p.m.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A toddler has died after a traffic accident on interstate-71 just before the Gene Snyder, officials said.

According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a large truck that rear-ended a passenger vehicle just before 3:30 p.m.

Two adults were transported to UofL Hospital, but unfortunately, a toddler died at the scene police said.

The driver of the large truck is uninjured and remained at the scene according to police.

LMPD said the Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.

Traffic on I-71 northbound is being diverted onto the Gene Snyder southbound and lanes are expected to be closed for the next several hours police said.
