Coroner identifies Louisville boy killed in Park Hill shooting

The 13-year-old boy died following a shooting on Wilson Avenue over the Fourth of July weekend.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A young boy in Louisville is dead following an early morning shooting in the Park Hill neighborhood.

On July 7, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the 13-year-old boy as Allen Wilson. He died as a result of a gunshot wound.

According to police, on July 2, officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department's Second Division responded to a report of a shooting around 3:50 a.m. 

The incident took place in the 2200 block of Wilson Avenue, in the Park Hill neighborhood.

When police arrived, they found Wilson suffering from a gunshot wound.

EMS was called and transported the young boy to the University of Louisville Hospital with, what police said, were life-threatening injuries. 

LMPD said the boy succumbed to his injuries the following day. 

The Homicide Unit's investigation is on-going.
