Eastbound lanes of I-64 on Sherman Minton Bridge reopened day early

Crews have completed the work on deck patching on approach bridges and safely access the eastbound deck.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The eastbound lanes on the Sherman Minton Bridge opened a day earlier than expected.

Work started on the eastbound lanes on Dec. 14 and was expected to last nine days and be completed on December 23. However, the work was completed a day earlier.

The closure allowed crews to perform deck patching on approach bridges and safely access the eastbound deck.

When they announced work on the bridge, officials said the closure could be shorter but in no case, the reopening date will not be later than Dec. 23.

Crews closed the bridge for 9-days in October to make repairs to the westbound lanes.
