CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — The body of a Kentucky man was found in the Ohio River Monday morning about 36 hours after he went missing, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Indiana Conservation Officer Jim Hash with DNR Law Enforcement said the body of 52-year-old Harold Snook of Crestwood was recovered around 8:30 a.m. on July 27.
Hash said the Snook's body was found about half a mile downstream from where he went missing near Fourteen Mile Creek in Charlestown. The body was found by DNR officers conducting a surface search by boat.
Indiana Conservation Officers received a report of a person in the Ohio River in Charlestown around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. First responders used various SONAR units and boat searches in the area on Saturday and Sunday.
It is unclear why Snook was in the river Saturday evening and officials say the incident is still under investigation.
Units from the Louisville Metro Police Department, Clark County Sheriff's Department, Oldham County Sheriff's Department, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, American Medical Response and the Charlestown Fire Department responded to the call.
