Employee at Northeast YMCA tests positive for COVID-19

CEO Steve Tarver said the staff member was removed from the schedule after saying a family member was showing symptoms.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The YMCA of Greater Louisville said a staff member at its Northeast Family location did test positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, CEO Steve Tarver said the staff member told the Y a family member was showing symptoms of coronavirus. The employee, who later tested positive, was removed from the schedule.

The employee has not worked since June 29. Tarver said everyone who has been in the vicinity of the staff has been notified.

"The health and safety of YMCA participants and staff are the top priorities of the YMCA," Tarver said. "All staff are temperature checked and screened prior to their work each day with masks required. Members are also required to wear masks in common areas."

Tarver said cleaning protocols have been maintained throughout all Y locations.
