LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer plans to step up testing in the city. He announced the creation of a testing task force.
The group will first ensure the city can test everyone who is symptomatic. They will also coordinate testing efforts throughout the city and monitor disease trends to spot any potential outbreaks as more of the economy reopens.
“We have to keep the disease boxed in so we can keep moving forward safely. And to successfully box in this virus, that means we have to expand our testing and tracing operations which is a significant, very significant undertaking,” Mayor Fischer said.
To help meet Governor Andy Beshear's statewide testing goal, about 11,000 tests would need to be done in Louisville each day.
