Construction issues on I-65 South cause major daily traffic backups

Crews went out and saw the damage underneath the bridge near St Catherine Street and shut down one lane.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — New construction delays are causing major backups on I-65 south

“We found that there was some advanced deterioration to the substructure specifically the abutment area of the bridge which is the underneath section of the bridge at the ends,” Stephanie Caros with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says.

Caros fills says the daily traffic backups began Nov.1.

Crews went out and saw the damage underneath the bridge near St Catherine Street and shut down one lane.

By November 4 two lanes were closed leaving one lane of traffic going south.

However, crews added a lane to the right shoulder so they can focus on the bigger issue which is repairing the bridge.

You are urged to stay patient on the roads. There's no exact timeline for when the construction project will be over.
