Overturned semi carrying cooking grease reopens

Three lanes are blocked due to the overturned semi that could cause traffic delays up to four hours on Wednesday afternoon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — (WHAS11)-An overturned semi carrying cooking grease has shut down three lanes of interstate 65 southbound early Wednesday afternoon.

According to MetroSafe, the crash happened around 12:38 p.m. Three lanes are blocked due to the overturned semi that could cause traffic delays up to four hours on Wednesday afternoon. One lane has reopened.

Metrosafe says EMS did transport someone to the hospital from the accident.

Due to traffic delays, authorities are rerouting everyone to the Second Street Bridge. You are urged to use other routes.

UPDATE as of 6:12 p.m. according to KYTC,

"The two left lanes are still blocked. Wreckers are on scene, they are still trying to remove one of the trailers which broke in half. Sand has been laid down to help absorb help with the oil (peanut oil) that was spilled. They are estimating that they should be able to have all lanes reopened in about 30 minutes or so."
