LEXINGTON, Ky. — LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) – President Donald Trump is expected to hold his election eve rally at Rupp Arena on Monday and Lexington Police have issued traffic advisories.
Traffic is expected to be heavy in and around downtown throughout the day and continuing into the evening. Motorists should expect delays and allow for additional travel time or consider using an alternate route.
Due to security protocols, police say they can’t provide specific information regarding road closures. There will be temporary road closures around Blue Grass Airport and downtown.
Those planning on attending the rally should know parking will be limited. If you need additional information, visit Rupp Arena’s and LexPark’s websites.
Some businesses and organizations have adjusted their operating hours. Lextran has announced detours for several routes Monday afternoon and evening.
Fayette County Public Schools have canceled all after school and evening activities.
Trump tweeted support ahead of his visit, supporting Governor Matt Bevin saying he’s doing a “fantastic job on health car and the budget, reducing taxes and making the state great.”
Many who support Trump and Matt Bevin were seeing lining up at Rupp Arena nearly 24 hours before the event.
Trump’s Keep America Great Rally is expected to begin at 7 p.m.
