LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders announced a trip to Louisville August 25.

This will be the Democratic presidential hopeful's first trip to Kentucky since launching his campaign.

The event starts at 4 p.m. at the City's Public Plaza on N. Sixth St. You can RSVP for the event on Sanders' campaign website.

As  Bernie Sanders prepares to campaign in Louisville, the Republican Party of Kentucky released the statement below:

“Just yesterday, socialist Bernie Sanders called for eliminating fossil fuels – which would cost Kentuckians thousands of jobs – much like when Andy Beshear and Greg Stumbo supported Hillary Clinton, who also pledged to put coal miners out of work,” Republican Party of Kentucky spokesman Mike Lonergan said. “The extremist, job-killing policies of Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Andy Beshear, and Greg Stumbo are wrong for Kentucky.”
