Indiana licenses to receive upgrades

The goal is to make the cards more secure and user friendly.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Drivers in Indiana will soon notice their licenses will look a little different.

The new licenses will include bigger numbers for your birth date, license number and expiration date.

Photos will also be in black and white along with a picture of the Indiana State Capitol or other local landmarks.

The goal is to make the cards more secure and user friendly.

“The beauty of the new technology – we are actually able to produce a more secure card for a less expense than what we’re paying today,” Kevin Garvey, Indiana BMV chief operating officer, said.

These are the first changes to the identification since 2007.

The cards will be available in all Indiana BMV’s by mid-July.
