INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana's official governor's residence has a new basketball court that will play host to youth league games and community events.

Gov. Eric Holcomb dedicated the newly-built court Saturday morning outside the brick, Tudor-style residence on Indianapolis' near north side.

He then tipped off its inaugural game as the DeKalb County Special Olympics basketball team divided into two squads to give the space a workout.

The court was funded by private donations. It's expected to play host to youth league games and community events.

Holcomb's office says each family that lives in the governor's residence traditionally finds a lasting improvement to make to the buildings or its grounds.

The court is just under junior high school regulation size to fit the grounds. The lines are high school regulation.
