LMPD give Occupy ICE demonstrators second warning at protest site

"Nothing has changed- we will be here. The mission is to abolish ICE and not be in compliance with petty infraction," Jesus Ibanez, a leader of Occupy Ice, said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Occupy ICE demonstrators continue to camp in front of Louisville’s ICE office. Tuesday morning city officials marked the street to show demonstrators what's legal and what needs to change.

"Nothing has changed- we will be here. The mission is to abolish ICE and not be in compliance with petty infraction,” Jesus Ibanez, a leader of Occupy Ice, said.

But the infractions he calls petty, could land the Occupy ICE demonstrators’ criminal charges, according to police.

LMPD Major Eric Johnson said, "You have to be in compliance with law and ordinance and basic understanding- such as parking at a meter and trying to walk down a sidewalk. Those are basic and reasonable asks on our part and were hopeful that will become compliant in the near future."

Police said the tents are too low and some items are blocking parking spaces.

Officers have given protestors two warnings over the last week and police say they will continue to enforce compliance.

“We will not be intimidated by these tactics I want to reiterate we want to shift the narrative back to the abolition of ice the protection of undocumented individuals and reuniting our families that have been separated by this administration,” Ibanez said.

Camped out right in front of the ICE office, the demonstrators say they don't plan on leaving any time soon and police say they'll keep monitoring the site as long as they stay.
