2 men wanted in Jeffersonville home invasion

Police say the suspects wore ballistic vests, helmets, handguns and a tactical shotgun.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Jeffersonville authorities are looking for the public’s help after a home invasion where suspects wore tactical gear.

“They zip-tie my cousin, they zip-tie me, and they take all of our money,” Donald Ryan told WHAS11 News.

The incident occurred early on June 18 on East 10th Street.

Police say the suspects wore ballistic vests, helmets, handguns and a tactical shotgun and restrained residents inside with zip-ties. Ryan said the men claimed they were with the Sheriff’s Department and dressed in what appeared to be SWAT uniforms.

“My girl wakes up to a noise, wakes me up, says there's someone in the house. I get up and go to the stairs and he's at the top of the stairs with a gun, tells me to get on the ground,” Ryan explained.

Ryan told WHAS11 News that suspects got away with about $5,000 and a handgun and some car keys. He said the locks have since been changed. They were not hurt.

“Clearly this robbery was well-planned, and it was obviously coordinated between the two individuals that were heavily armed and tactical gear, gloves, they had burglary tools, they were equipped to commit the robbery, they were ready with zip-ties to take people into custody so we are actively investigating any possible connections,” Detective Todd Hollis with the Jeffersonville Police Department explained.

Ryan said he didn't recognize the men, but does feel his home may have been targeted.

“I feel like we knew somebody they were involved in because they knew the house, they knew where to go, it was weird,” he explained.

Police believe the suspects were driving a dark-colored vehicle.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Jeffersonville Police at (812) 218-TIPS.

“We don't want to get hurt. We don't want somebody else to come back and try and do this again and we definitely don't want anybody else to get hurt either,” Ryan told WHAS11 News, hoping the surveillance pictures will help lead to an arrest soon.
