Pharmacist admits to creating fake profiles to obtain drugs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville pharmacist is facing charges after police said he created fake patient profiles to get controlled substances like Hydrocodone.

Officers arrested Gary Yelton at the CVS Pharmacy on Taylorsville Road where he worked.

Investigators said Yelton created the profiles over the course of two years. In one case, police said Yelton even took a prescription from a waiting bin, paid for it with his own money, and then kept the medication. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.

Police said Yelton admitted to the allegations and said he used the medication for pain and anxiety.
