Waterfront Park restored to its glory following Thunder Over Louisville

Crews began working right after the show to restore it to its original condition.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Waterfront and areas littered with trash after Thunder Over Louisville have been restored to their glory nearly 24 hours after the celebration.

Crews began working right after the show to restore it to its original condition.

By noon Sunday, the entire venue was free of trash and debris.

The Kentucky Derby Festival enlists the help of other agencies and hundreds of volunteers to help return the Waterfront to tip-top shape.

Rumpke Waste and Recycling, a family-owned business, removed their 800 portable toilets or ‘Thunder Pots’ as they’re called.

The toilets are said to have been equipped with enough toilet paper to stretch from Louisville to Indianapolis and back, with miles to spare.
